Ch.2 - Tunes Under the Moon
As the world goes to sleep, the moon remains still, as far as it can be, as bright as it can be. Luring one’s heart with tunes of longing and pine. Lingering within, closest to the heart, yet furthest to reach.
Ironically, I find myself often daydreaming when the night falls. The night sky is my canvas as I paint my ideas with the chilly breeze. I imagine possibilities under the moonlight, jotting down notes and bits, and sometimes giving these words melodies. Now, think of some 80s city pop beat, light and rhythmic, funky yet soothing as the harmony kicks in. You’re barefoot strolling down these streets, taking steps of freedom, free from all the rules, free from all the trauma, grooving to the bass while humming simple words:
…
‘Close my eyes to feel alive,
streetlights on my broadway drive.
One step or two to divine,
I’m dancing in the city lights,
the stars become my own.
Night alone these sparkle,
would never leave me alone
Spinning around in circles,
I’m in the different time zone.’
…
The rest is your imagination.
I love how the moon is always included in our daily phrases of love and fantasies. Maybe because of how unreachable it is, we often have these reveries about the moon. Even when the world is dark, you still shine brightly, on me and on you. With the stars, you wrapped around everyone with your incredible warmth and comfort. Tonight as usual, under the same moon, I fell asleep soundly.
Happy mid-autumn festival everyone. This week I would like to introduce one of my favourite rendition of the classic city pop song ‘Plastic Love’ by Mariya Takeuchi.
